Field Review — Pocket

★★★★★
Actually used in the field

I've been running this in real client meetings for weeks — in person, no laptop open, no "hang on, let me start a Teams call so I can record this." Just the device in my pocket while the meeting happens like normal.

  • No app to fumble with mid-meeting — it just runs, so I stay in the conversation instead of half-listening while I type
  • Picks up the whole room, not just whoever's closest to a mic
  • Walk out with real notes and action items instead of chicken-scratch on a legal pad
  • Doesn't need the client on any platform — most of my meetings happen in their office, not on a screen
  • Useful bouncing between multiple clients a day without losing details between them
VERDICT— if your meetings happen in a room, not on a call, this beats recording on your phone or writing it by hand. Actually use it, actually recommend it.

Before you deploy one

!

An always-on mic is a data-handling decision

Any AI recorder is a live audio feed leaving the room. Before it goes to a client meeting — especially legal, healthcare, or anyone under an NDA — know where it lands:

  • Where transcripts are stored, and whether that vendor will sign a BAA if HIPAA applies
  • Whether recording requires the other party's consent in your state (California is two-party)
  • Whether the client's own confidentiality terms allow a third-party AI tool in the room at all
